Zone Defense is a collection of thoughts, musings and anecdotes from the life of Vivek Sridharan.

My name is Vivek.  Our family came together in a unique way. My wife Andrea and I always wanted to adopt a child. We completed everything required for an adoption through foster care (classes, interviews, home, etc.) and then literally were waiting for a call. Within a month or so after completing that process we found out Andrea was pregnant. And about a month after that, we got a call that twin girls were born in San Francisco and their mother safe-surrendered them for adoption. We said yes, and a week after the girls were born we took Una and Verity home. And Andrea got more and more pregnant. And somehow we still had to have some income. And then about six months later, Paxton (Pax) was born.

With 3 under 1 and our heads underwater, 2016 was a wild year.

I created this blog because I felt that talking to other parents they didn’t quite get the intensity of what we were going through, and there were and are many daily choices we have to make that parents who don’t have three kids the same age have to make. In addition, I never felt that a lot of the material written from a dad’s perspective really broke down the reality of being an active dad of multiple small children in this modern world. I kept thinking things and not writing them down so here we are.

I have written for many places before, but most actively about the Oakland A’s for Athletics Nation (www.athleticsnation.com)

I practice entertainment law and Andrea is a nurse. We live in San Francisco, CA, USA.
